When Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk hotel was conceived, the owners had a clear vision. They wanted to combine the opulence of ancient Egypt with the sophistication of French living. Two styles under one roof.

When they asked us to imagine the communal space, our challenge was to create something that stayed true to their vision.

But behind the stylistic ambition was a pragmatic approach. After all, form follows function – and this project was no different.

On the ground floor, the marble-clad staircases give the lobby a lavish feel. And for its size, it’s surprisingly resourceful with space.
