UN World Water Day 2022 - Putting thirst, first
The 22nd of March marked the thirtieth annual UN World Water Day.
A day to raise awareness of the two billion people across the globe who don’t have access to clean drinking water.
We wanted to make a real difference to those people’s lives. And we wanted it to last longer than one day on the calendar.
But how?
It all started with replacing single-use plastic bottles with refillable water flasks. Not only did this save plastic waste, it also saved a lot of money.
Those savings were then put towards the installation of an AquaTower at the Jose P. Rizal Elementary School in Baguio, Philippines.
The tower comes with a three-stage active filtration system, which removes viruses, bacteria, pathogens, and other contaminants from the water.
Just in time for UN World Water Day 2022, the tower is now in full operation – providing crystal-clean drinking water to the school and local community for generations to come.
Stephen Taylor, KPS’ Managing Director in the UAE, said: “It is estimated that over two billion people live without access to safe water. At KPS we exist to turn challenges into opportunities. We’re happy that we found a way to actively reduce the amount of plastic waste we produce here in the UAE, while simultaneously contributing to water health and hygiene in the Philippines.”
With additional sanitation facilities and an ongoing educational program, the AquaTower comes with a multiyear support package – so the water keeps flowing long after World Water Day is over.
See it for yourself.
